Merry & Bright

Here's wishing you and yours a very happy Christmas!

We're still hoping for some snow... we saw some flurries Saturday, but we're holding out for the real deal. Vi is doing her part to encourage it: she's got the boots. She's got the sparkly pom-pom hat. She's got the attitude. And she got her Christmas present (a doll stroller) 3 weeks early because I couldn't wait any longer...
Now all she needs is a white Christmas. How can the Universe say no to that face?

I'm off to make a coffee cake... merry merry.

Vi Goes Out.

David took Viley out on Saturday morning for breakfast. Good excuse for a cute outfit, right?
I don't know if it's a good thing or not, but this kid continues to love clothes and accessories (aka "prippies"). She insists on wearing "yoks" and "yoos" (socks & shoes) every morning. She insisted on wearing her winter hat with her pajamas last night. I put her in a little red striped shirt and jeggings the other morning, and she crossed her arms, looked down at herself, and walked away like, "Yeah. This is cool." Not sure if this love for fashion is inherent, or if I've created a monster...

Happy Halloween from our Little Fairy

We had to get her dressed up, even though we weren’t joining my family this year like we usually do for trick or treating. Our friends (who live in our building) Mike & Kati emailed us earlier today to let us know they wanted trick or treaters -- which was the perfect excuse to get a little costume together for her after all (and stock up on some candy for David and I… October 31 rolls around and I start to go through withdrawl if I don’t have a fun-size candy bar).

V was an eager trick or treater. Plus it helped that she was in LOVE with the “yos” (shoes) she got to wear (thanks, Kelley!). The past few weeks I’ve caught her rummaging through her drawers in an attempt to find these Tinkerbell shoes. When I pulled them out to complete her fairy costume tonight, she couldn’t stop talking about them. David made her wings (the guy can cut anything out of construction paper in 5 seconds flat), and Elise bought her the little tulle skirt for her birthday this past summer. The onesied pot-belly hanging over the skirt is all Vi.

Hope your Halloween was safe and happy, and full of whatever you'd dig through multiple bowls of candy to find.

Violet & Accessorizing.

My kid, Violet, is very into accessorizing right now. She's one year old, and loves what she calls "prippies" (pretties).

It's not uncommon to see her running around our apartment in some assisted getup: blankets on her head, socks on her hand, play rings on her wrists.

I thought you might enjoy seeing (and maybe even be inspired by... haaahahaha okay) Violet's favorite accessories:
She saw me wearing my glasses and wanted to join in the fun, so we popped the lenses out of her sunglasses.
Pretending to be Baby Gandalf in David's hoodie. She requested we put this on her.
An early attempt at wearing glasses like Mom does, courtesy of Mr. Potatohead.
I think she's going for the chic bag lady look here.
